The Voyage Of The Sea Wolf Review

Voyage of the Sea Wolf
The Voyage Of The Sea Wolf
Eve Bunting

At the end of The Pirate Captain's Daughter, Catherine and cabin boy William are marooned on Pox Island by the murderous crew of the pirate ship Reprisal. The young lovers see no hope of escape.

In Voyage of the Sea Wolf, the continuing sage of Catherine's sea adventures, she and William are rescured from their island prison by the Sea Wolf, a pirate ship pursuing the Reprisal. Catherine worries that these new pirates will send her back to the island once they discover she's a girl. But then, she meets the captain of the Sea Wolf. A woman! Surely, Catherine thinks, the bloodshed and brutality she and William experienced aboard the Reprisal can't happen again, especially under the leadership of a female captian.

But just as things seem to be going their way, the captain takes a liking to William. Catherine is forbidden to see him.

If Catherine and William want to stay together, they must find a way to now escape from the Sea Wolf

Review

The Voyage of the Sea Wolf is the sequel to the 2011 book The Pirate Captain's Daughter.

Characters: The author does a good job of describing the characters in such a short amount of time, I personally love when you can visualize the characters very clearly.
At the starting of the book it was clear the William and Catherine were in love. And although I continued in believing in Catherine's love for William, I found myself doubting William's love for Catherine.

Story Line: One part Adventure, One part Romance.....The book is fast paced and about half of the plot line is in the story description on the back of the book. I still found it to be interesting and entertaining though being a sequel to such a good book as the Pirate Captains Daughter I was increasingly disappointed throughout the book.

Overall for the most part you do not have to read The Pirate Captain's Daughter before reading The Voyage of the Sea Wolf, but if you want an actual lengthy story I would read it first.
As a sequel I would give it a 2.5/5, but as a standalone I would give it a 3/5.
If you are looking for a quick read that you can finish in a little over an hour and that has an interesting plot then this is the book for you. If you are looking for a more in depth read then I would either skip it or read The Pirate Captain's Daughter first.

Cinder (The Lunar Chronicles #1) Review

Cinder (The Lunar Chronicles #1)
Humans and androids crowd the raucous streets of New Beijing. A deadly plague ravages the population. From space, a ruthless lunar people watch, waiting to make their move. No one knows that Earth’s fate hinges on one girl.

Cinder, a gifted mechanic, is a cyborg. She’s a second-class citizen with a mysterious past, reviled by her stepmother and blamed for her stepsister’s illness. But when her life becomes intertwined with the handsome Prince Kai’s, she suddenly finds herself at the center of an intergalactic struggle, and a forbidden attraction. Caught between duty and freedom, loyalty and betrayal, she must uncover secrets about her past in order to protect her world’s future

Now for the review.
I admit I was unsure whether or not to read Cinder (I mean a retelling of Cinderella with Cyborgs??????)
Cinder is a teenage mechanic cyborg living in the dystopian world of New Beijing. The world has had a plague circulating around for years and one of the main topics of the book is the search for the cure. Cyborgs are believed by people to be a diseased group and only useful for plague antibiotic testing. The plot turned out to be amazing, and the characters were very interesting.

Cinder is a hardworking Cyborg who's dream is to become independent of her stepmother. Cinder's love is shown through her devotion to her younger step-sister Linh Peony.
Cinder's Stepmother I found to be pretty typical of a Cinderella retelling, as was her other step-sister Linh Pearl. The prince in the book: Kai is a strong-hardworking man who similarly to Cinder shows his love to family and country throughout the book.
The author did a good job adding lots of plot twists to keep you on your toes.

The one thing that I found lacking was the romance between Kai and Cinder, it remained in my underdeveloped throughout the book, Which is the only reason that this book received 4 butterfly's instead of 5. But altogether after completing Cinder all I could think about was reading Scarlet :).
